just put all my bits together and fire the thing up but have forgotten to plug in the HDD so plug it in and the keyboard no longer works it is a ps2 keyboard and worked before i had to turn it off to plug i the HDD any1 got any ideas?

i have tried another keyboard and that dont work either so its not the keyboard at fault

unplug the hdd again..and see if it works then?

ok have disconnected the HDD and the keyboard works again this puzzles me more

you have put the jumper on the hdd to master...?
is this a new build..new disk etc?
if it dont work...try the other ide slot on the mobo..see then?

no wasnt a new HDD found the problem though the ide cable was broken put a new one in and it works now

Odd reason for the keyboard not working, but meh. I always found the keyboard to be the only thing that has never failed me but always fails other people,  . _________________

that cable was out of an old pc that a shop told my dad had a broken HDD well now i know the real reason wont ever be asking them for advice again!!!!
