Thanks for help guys....I tried to check the RAM but didn't have any compatible RAM around.
But I got it working using an Ultimate boot CD. 
If you don't have one I suggest you get one for your toolbox.....worked a treat.
Last time I used an Ultimate boot CD was during the days of Prince of Persia, battle chess and Keen.
