Ok, so me and my best friend LOVE playing co-op PS2 games as well as multiplayer.
So i'm gonna start a thread listing the best ones we've played. And see if there are any you guys have played that would be worth a look.
To define "Co-Op games"
I'm talking about 2+ player games where you can play story mode as a team. Preferably
not including online only games....
Games where you have to be sitting in the same room with half a TV screen each....
argueing over who gets to open the next chest, over which path to take first, where to go next, or who's fault it is that you just got shot or blown up by a tank
.
Haggling over equipment, swapping guns, trading a sniper rifle for a machine gun, or potions for a load of arrows. Planning strategies, making plans, and having a laugh. Getting giddy from sleep deprivation,
staying up till 4 in the morning playing with a good mate in your living room.
My list:
Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance
(One of my favourite games of all time...we've finished this game 8 or 9 times!!!
)
Platform:PS2
Genre: Hack and slash RPG
Players: 2 player co-op
3 difficulty settings, 3 playable characters. 1 unlockable character, 1 unlockable "extreme" difficulty level.
Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance 2
Platform:PS2
Genre: Hack and slash RPG
Players: 2 player co-op
3 difficulty settings, 5 playable characters. 2 unlockable characters, 1 unlockable "extreme" difficulty level.
Champions of Norrath
Genre: Hack and slash RPG
Players:
2 to 4 player Co-op.
Me, my two brothers, and my friend, played story mode as a 4 player team. It got hectic pretty fast!!
A great game, ruined by a very buggy retail release. Playing 4 player increases the buggyness, it's not very stable as a four player game, crashes more often than is acceptable
(it might be my ancient PS2 which has seen better days that makes it crash more often...but we're not really sure)
Still worth it for 2 player though.
Timesplitters 2
Genre: First Person Shooter
Players: 2 player Co-op
Awesome fun
Timesplitters 3
Genre: First Person Shooter
Players: 2 player Co-op
not nearly as good as TS2....buggy controls, lack of TS2 maps in multiplayer. (thanks for that go to EA for taking over the timesplitters franchise and releasing a sub par sequel
)
Still a good game.
Conflict Desert Storm (Good)
&
Conflict Desert Storm II (better)
Genre: Third Person Shooter
Players: PS2 (2 player co-op), Gamecube (2 to 4 player co-op)
(Sinlge player, i suppose these aren't as good as say, Socom navy seals. But multiplayer is good fun, and we still like them)
Most sports games are co-op, we play those too.
I think NFL street was the best fun two player.
We've played 1 or two James bond games which had co-op in them, but the fact i can't remember the names of them says all you need to know about them
ok, not worth buying though....
So, let my quest for a good co-op game begin!
Post them up if you have any
(i realise most of you are PC only people, but i figured i'd try anyway!
)
