it says it's an AMD 4408 MHz
aka amd64 4400 ;)

it's not really clocked that high, it's the equivalent :)

and your best bet really is to open up the case, don't worry about it, it's not hard to do and you won't break anything unless you're really trying ;)

dual core amd running at 2.2ghz per core, incase you were all wondering :D (guess, but i could be wrong)

Source isn't very good at determining CPU speed at all

Looks like a dell? also if you got that at Christmas ring dell up and tell them the problem, should still be under warranty.

Dell cases are often pretty tricky to open, would need some better quality pics if you could, to tell how to do it

over clocking???????? ..i am not a computer geek.. plz lets keep the language simple thx

its a dell custom assembled .... :(

.....help

dell cases are piss easy to open - if you look at teh back, on the right hand side about half way down there is an L-shaped bit of plastic - that should slide up (or down) and the side will lift away nicely. If you still have the instruction manual for it, it'll be there.

Once you have the side off, have a good blow to get all the dust out, don't whatever you do use a vacuum cleaner to do this. Make sure you clean all the fans in there.

/me smacks head

Seriously lol don't do that again, the static build up from a vacuum cleaner can kill al the components in an instant in a pc.

so it looks like when you play games, your computer crashes. Time to be ringing dell support I think mate. Defo a graphics card issue though.

after reading the very first post....i'm not sure why this has become such a mystery

he gets an error saying his comp shut down cuz his graphics card can't handle the load....

to quote Scrubs
"When you hear hoofbeats, go ahead and think horse, not zebra."

It could be a case of you card overheating...but you've cleaned the fans in your case etc. and anyway, i don think that's the issue.

Your graphics card is horribly outdated.
In fact, it was outdated 12 months ago. :?
I'd be amazed if you've been playing CSS with more than 20fps (as your maximum number).

it's not a gaming video card....it just cant handle it.
It's a media card.(for watching movies etc.)

Solution

Buy a new graphics card.

Cheaper solution:P
alternativley turn down all you graphics settings (you can leave resolution at default) and see if you still get the error

I play Wow, Rome:Total War, Warcraft .. and my graphics card can handle that no problemo .. but with CS:S ... that error comes up ..... then if i try again playing ...the same error happens 5mins later ...... so i have to restard my pc ./.. then i start CS:S again and i dont get the error for the whole evening....

My card cant be out of date its a Nvidieo GEForce 7300LE .. 512mb

i have google the nvidia error nv4_disp .. .and it seems like some mystery error that everyone gets sometimes when playing games .. or something..

So if i phone up Dell .. and be like: "Oi my graphics card cant handle it when i play CS:S, but it can do everything else." There just gonna be like well "dont play CS" ... even though i pretty much pass with flying colours all the recommended specs for playing CS
----When i first started playing CS:S put all settings on maximum cuz it says "recommended for your pc".....alas i switched off HDR because i was crashing a lot on Militia (coincidently the same error) .

A new error i now get when playing (its happened 2/3 times in the past 2 weeks) is "IDirect3DDevice9::Present() Errors"

So i researched that and was looking at this page
http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-bin ... _topview=1

.....

and well there could be so many things that could be wrong but generally:
-I have updated my driverS
-Got this pc at x-mas .. so it cant be simple dust being caught
-It only happens on CS

But forcefire i think u could be right about just the fact maybe my graphics card ....like cant handle all the visual gaming of CS ..so i may need to turn some settings off ......buut ...............MY GRAPHICS CARD IS SUPPOSE TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THAT PUNISHMENT !!!! (according to the figures.)

And so we go around in circles
