was just playin a game, when my graphics started to artefact...
so i closed down the game.. checked the graphics temperatures to see them at 78 degrees C ... thats pretty darn hot for an nvidia card right??
anyway i opened up my case and cleaned a load of dust.. from the fan and motherboard and made sure it was still spinning etc...
started it back up and its currently sitting at 54 degrees C... which is fine
scary how much of a difference a little bit of dust can make ay?

Yep, just be careful about static. These motherboard sensors ain't all that accurate neither. Leading edges of the blades of fans can get a build up which will reduce airflow. My Nvidia stock 6800 GPU is currently running at 48C, at idle.
NTune says Sysem Fan is at 31889RPM, Nforce at 675RPM and Aux at 18RPM. Not sure what last two are all about as it ain't an nforce board.

Yeah, causes mine all sorts of problems, but thankfully I've turned the overclocking and stuff off to bring temps down. Not much difference in performance, but some stuff is noticable. Either way, my PC was unaffected yesterday . I was out on a boat all day.

I have to keep my window wide open when playing games otherwise my computers not getting enough air flow (really stuffy) and the cpu fan starts to slow down.

Repaired it today. There was a burnt mark where the spark? had jumped from the power supply to the case. Runs fine with new power supply though.

I've got one of those Antec Nine Hundred cases with the huge fan in the top, during the winter I just leave the PC on all day and it works like a fan heater, keeps one corner of the lounge nice and warm..!
Only catch is keeping it dust free, have to vacuum it out once a fortnight or the heat starts to really build up in this weather, the gfx card fan sounds like a Dyson without even playing a game in this heat!
