This may be a dumb question, but is there some sort of software that will allow me to make my volume louder than the max it can currently go, I can get sound very very loud with just my speakers but with headphones it's too quiet..:(

on board or dedicated soundcard?

have you checked in control panel to see if there is a function

similar to the one found on the xfi 'Smart Volume Management'

you sure your headphones are plugged into the right socket? ie headphones not line out? try swapping them over...

and you have adjusted the volume level for that individual socket?

have a look at the wave on the control panel for sound,
sometimes certain software will change the level on this,
dunno why :?
