Yesterday my email connection stopped.. erm.. connecting.

Getting this message:
Code:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.demon.co.uk', Server: 'pop3.demon.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Search sites keep asking me to open ports that 'should' already be open.....
Anyone help?

Sure the servers not undergoing maintenance, I had the same on my lycos for a few days when they where working on the server. Have they got Webmail? Can you ping 194.217.242.253?

Double check your settings for the server in outlook.

SMTP needs to be port 25, POP3 110 - you don't want the SSL box ticked.

To check you can access the servers, try the following

Click start, run, and type in CMD and press enter.

type telnet pop3.demon.co.uk 110 and press enter
You should get a message like

+OK demon POP3 server ready (demon.co.uk)

type quit and press enter

Now type telnet post.demon.co.uk 25 and press enter a few times
You should get something appear, entering quit and press exit should get you out.

If you cant see the servers with the telnet commands, you have a router/firewall/antivirus/virus problem :)
