right, long story short, ive to find a new mobo for a mate, they have about 100quid budget,
and its an old system soo i suggested upgrading mobo, proccessor and gfx....here's what ive found.
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(17272)Asus-P5VD2MX-SE-LGA775-P4M890-1066FSB-PCIE.aspx
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(16572)Intel-CPU-Pentium-4-631-30GHz-800FSB-LGA775.aspx
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(16647)ATi-Radeon-X1550-512MB-PCIE-DVI-TV-Out-Oem.aspx
they aint needing anything for serious gaming or that...just a few older games i think, i know the
mobo and processor will do, but what about the gfx??
what do you lot think?

i would get the 925
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(15140)Intel-CPU-Pentium-4-D-925-Dual-core-2x30GHz.aspx
Very good CPU, i know its £10 more that you budget, but the performance is so much better

tell 'em to barter their money and get a mobo (Gigabyte or ASUS) that is arround £80 and get a C2D with a GFX Card and the £60 Corsair 2GB RAM PC6400 sticks.
Bout £350-400?
to be honest... you'll probs need a new power supply to, so make sure you've checked the old one is good enough.

Go for this 100% ^
Everything else looks all right, considering the budget and such.

turns out they don't need anything...the motherboard is fine, it just wasn't
detecting the HDD for some reason...they fixed it though, but they'll probably
get this stuff next month or something, soo all their hardware is fine....only
thing possibly needed ontop of this stuff is PSU as simon said...but they
dont need any ram or anything. only reason for graphics card is they dont have
one...they have onboard graphics atm. and their processor is an old pentium
3....which imo deffinately could do with an upgrade to a pentium 4 at least.

I'd get this card instead - a few quid extra (literally).
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(17637)ATi-Radeon-X1650-512MB-PCIE-DVI-TV-Out-Oem.aspx
The x1550 is just the x1300 rebranded apparently, may be worth the extra few nicker to get a slightly better card.
Or rise to 70 quid for an x1950 pro.
