Post subject: ARMA SOLVES COLT'S PC GAMES ISSUE!!!!!! W00TY Posted: Sat Sep 15, 2007 9:19 pm |

I get this when i try and run many games: any idea where i should start looking (is it ram related?).......i've reinstalled all drivers and my Ram is fine when diagnosed by osx - it's a dual boot, and my test proggys happen to be on that partition..
basically, if i can crack this, i can start playing games other than css,,,,which would be nice!

Its secret L33t haxor code... I'm not allowed to tell you because you don't have the decoder ring we are all issued with.
On another note, I get it too sometimes. I have no idea what it is (i think someone once told me it had something to do with RAM) but it hasn't affected my pc or gaming much other than the occasional crash which i can live with.

drivers would have been my first idea....its definatley RAM related.
is it steam related games or all games?
you ever get it for "non-game" programs?
what kind of ram do you have? same as Jims i wonder?

Ah but I can play all my games, on the vary rare occasion it crashes that sometimes comes up.
I actually think i posted something about this a while back, asking what it was and if it was a bad thing. I think i got an answer.

in which case..inspect your Heat
use coretemp - an application to measure temperature... found out mine runs at around 39 idle and up to 50 degrees unoverclocked
as opposed to 24-32 degrees my motherboard software seems to say....
look at dust too

i doubt its heat related.
it's either the ram itself is gone bad, needs newer drivers, or bad programming.
i'd go with what bilbo said. try re-install steam if its specific to steam.

i think its better that way, in respect of INS, get terrible lag and the old motion sickness otherwise
but yeah, i would say it was ram, aint a bad thing perhaps too many ram intensive apps running at the same time
Dr.Strangelove - now where did i leave my coat?

heats fine. steams fine. css is fine. just everything else - vc, tmu, etqw, bf42, bf2.......removed ram, tested, etc etc ....well, having tried EVERYTHING i have just wiped the wondows partition and am about to start BOOTCAMP'ing my mac again from scratch......then im going to install ETQW as the test game. runs on my mac lappy no probs (except for the challenging gfx - i cant run it on High...but cant get it to work yet on this beast.........i've tested the memory ive tested the sound card ive remove stuff and retested.....still cant run ETQW.....lets hope this mammoth reinstall is worth it
this will also be a test of how religiously i copied to my 'useful programs to back up' folder when i d/l'd anything I knew id need again.....sods law says i've backed up everything but the one thing i need most
BTW I have 3G of DDR2 FB-DIMM 667hmz ram : only 2G is recognised by XP home but that should be fine.....it's certainly passed all the ram tests on osx i have just thrown at it.........

I've had that error message appear on hammer and Might & Magic before.
Something to do with not enough virtual memory apparently but I never got round to finding a solution.

all steam engine games run fine (thank goodness) but they always did.
BF1942 and ETQW still dont want to know. 1942 just wont start and ETQW gives me the message above....
wondering if it's my graphic card.....atio1900xt
