lol @ caps.

Anyhoo, you need Vista for Direct X 10, (which 8800GTS has) BUT, it is not necessary, and such XP will work fine.

If your budget is £200 then go for the Superclocked 8800gts http://www.ebuyer.com/product/125117

If you want the cheapest 8800GTS available then go for this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/125130

If you play in resolutions above 1280x1024 then the 640mb cards are recommended, but not essential.

EDIT: You got AGP or PCI-E?, if it's AGP then good luck...

And as Diablo says 1280x1024 640mb and 320 will be enough for smaller res

GOOD MAN! :D

I got the OC1 version of that. Freakin awesome card. Except mine is 640MB.

I run at 1680x1050 (where possible, some games don't support this very well not a problem with the card though, lol) and 1024x768 (Dual-Monitor) and its run superb ever since I had this card. Can't fault it. Cost me £260 back in February 2007 (duh...).

BFG Geforce 8800GTS 640MB Factory OC @550MHz since they updated the drivers, its just freakin awesome.

EDIT: Probs get it cheaper off ebuyer or microdirect, but here it is. clicky

ALSO: Just found this on offer this week if anyone is interested... BFG 8800GTS 640 OC2 £256 + Free Delivery

I've got a Voodoo 3D FX.

Luckily not in this pc, it's just the one that holds the door open when needs be, this has the 8800gts superclocked thingy in, 'tis nice :D

5200 only came in AGP so your out of luck in trying to get a 8800GTS.

You will have to lok for some thing like this ATI 1950XT @ 165 for the top of the range baby or this nVidia 7600GT @ 98 for a more sensibly priced AGP card that will run ok

Id go with hte cheaper option or save up to get a whole new system

If hes on AGP chances are his CPU suxors too, so worth upgrading the whole thing or at best just getting a 7600GS AGP to pass the time untill a proper upgrade I guess.

Sounds like a plan, use Ebuyer / Scan and that, search around the internet for special offers and such.

Avoid PC world at all costs.
