i've bought a zalman fan so will find out for sure in a few days
but i hope it's not borked.. otherwise im buying a new psu and graphics card :/
the graphical errors are not permanently there.. just after a few minutes of playing... which suggested to me it is heat related
this is at temperatures of 52 degrees C.....
got a 7900gt by the way - replaced one as it was artefacting badly (REAL BAD within first few weeks)

Looks like the gpu memory is borked to be honest, had that on a 6600gt a few years ago, prolly caused by high temps.

what he said , dunno if there is a mem test for gfx cards but i have had the same 2 times
could also be a driver error or heat - can u stick it in a mates pc and see what happens to rule out drivers ?

definitely not drivers
o well im guessing if it is damaged its because i didn't spot the high temperatures fast enough
if im lucky i'll be able to run it with a fan but if not .. 250 quid or so gone :

if its still under warranty RMA it.
ive just RMA'd my gtx even tho i pencil modded it and glued ram sinks to the ram.
ask for a refund or account credit and get a 640gts or spend £50 more and get a gtx.
edit*52c is not hot at all so i doubt its that.

Just out of interrest does the new heatsink cover the ram or include separate ramsinks, if separate do they recieve air flow. If combined with the GPU metal is there good contact with the ram chips. The origional HSF would have had little pads to bridge the gap between the metal and the chips, this gaps is quite large and the pads can't be reused without care. (Bit late now I guess).
