and if you want to wait til the new stuff comes out then wait til the new year
you could even replace the gtx with an 8800gt as they are almost on par

Haha, that's exactly what I put in mine in the end. Slightly better RAM and the CPU is supposed to be brilliant for overclocking.
The power supply I just picked at random because the one I wanted was out of stock

I picked Ballistix. Was thinking about skimping and going for some cheaper options as I'd already gone over budget, but decided it wasn't worth it

Gona have to agree. Q6600.
Purely because it'll pack out more juice in the long run and it'll overclock like a biatch. So if your really worried about 600MHz difference.. (which in the latest Intel Tech ain't much anyways...) then go with the Q6600 and OC it.
Also the RAM in the above post is a steal in my opinion.

Just got the bits of my comp all laid out. There's a lot more more cables than the last time I did this!

All done! Have to say that the Antec 900 gaming case and the Abit IP35 pro motherboard makes for a real bitch of an install. The cables just do want to go far enough, had to take out various components and reinstall them because I'd forgotten to plug in the front usb ports
Having said that, this case is running so cool. Quad Core Q6600 with an idling temp of 21C

what are you using to get your temps cos i very much doubt its at 21c.
quick pick of my 900 although it looks a lot different now.
i have an ek full cover block for the gtx but they sent the wrong screws so i cant fit it til the new ones arrive.
the hdd cage at the bottom is much smaller and minus a hdd.
all the fans are different aswell.
my ram was being rma'd when i took that pic so i had a single 512md stick in.
ive modded the case to fit a thermochill pa120.3 in the front and for cable management.also ive modded afan controller in the tray on the top of the case.
ill get some pics tomorrow
still loads i wanna do but i doubt ill even be able to afford braodband when we move so i cant finish it

Looks great. Yeah, that idling temp was from the uGuru package that came with the motherboard. Just lowered my fans down to medium and installed the latest beta for Core Temp which definately gives correct temps (so they say!) and it's idling at 27-28 now.

make sure you have the latest version cos i think the only ones give false readings with quad cores and try TAT also to see if they give the same temp.
