The 8800GT is faster than the 8800GTS, and cheaper.

I'm gonna try get one and replace my current 8800GTS, will put £30 back in my pocket for a better card :).

EDIT:

As you know, a GTS card usually means it out powers a GT card, but at the moment the new 8800GT is more powerful than the 8800GTS.

It is believed that within this year Nvidia has discovered a way to make the cards at a cheaper price, and this is why the 8800GT is cheaper yet more powerful than the GTS.

Soon though a new line of 8800GTS's will hit the market, a redesigned version or something so balance is restored once again.

Depends which version you buy really... I got the GTS 640MB and its factory overclocked... Compared to the GTS 320MB the GT 512MB kicks its ass. 8)

But that is likely to be largely factorised by the fact that the GT has the same chip... with more memory than the cheap little GTS 320MB. And I daresay the GT falls down somewhere that the GTS picks up. Looking into it right now. 8)

You can overclock the 640GTS but you can't expand the ram of the 512GT.

At least that was my reasoning when I picked the GTS. It was a hard choice and there really isn't that much between the two cards, but the newer games will start using bigger textures so more RAM seems ideal.

Well, delivery free when it's over £50, it costs nothing to RMA, so I'll RMA my 8800GTS, I could get them to pick it up, say tomorrow, they'll take it back to their HQ and refund me in a couple days.

Then I get my £190 back, and put £160 of that into a new 8800GT :).

One last point to make is that those good figures are partly due to it running on PCI-e v2 rather than v1.1. If you want the great performance out of them you'll need to check your motherboard. Currently the only ones that I know are v2 capable are the X38 line. Just make sure of that before you buy :)

Don't worry it'll run great, it'll just run even better on a PCI-e2 motherboard. Not too sure about the differences tbh.
