i have the 8800GTX and everytime i load up my new pc it says it may not have enough power and needs to slow down/shut stuff off/change stuff to make sure no damage is done to the new card. the card has more than enough power (antec 850w PSU), both plugs are in properly and the drivers for the card are in correctly as well... any other reason y it might have problems with power?

Did you look in the bios to see what the power output is. Also swap the rails over if its not the drivers. The GTS requires up to 26 Amps on the 12v line, suspect the GTX isn't much difference, sometimes one line supplys more than the other, should say in the manual.

Worse comes to the worse put a multimetre on the 12/5 volt power socket, sounds like its the power supply that goes directly into the video card, I think my olde 6800 only does that when its not plugged in.

I did notice the 8800 has two power inputs. How many rails does your power supply have? If its the quattro try plugging in 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. The other thing to check is that none of the pins are messed up or loose in the socket, they easily can get get pushed back into the motherboard.

I used to get the same error on my 8800gtx, but only if i forgot to plug those power cables back in,
idealy try another psu or unplug everything you can from the rest of the pc

The only one it can be is the Quattro 850. http://www.antec.com/uk/productDetails.php?ProdID=07851

Shouldn't really have any problems.

Don't know if this diagnosis software will help. http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php my 12v is currently at 11.17V which means the load is a little to high.

This was an interesting read even though it was the 6600gt. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=919288
