they are called phono. and u will struggle to get one, a 3.5mm jack is pretty much the same as phono (will make no difference when playing p.c audio files). its v easy to get an adaptor. every sound card will have a 3.5mm, including mobo sound.

if your running AC97 inbuilt audio should be fine unless u have a bad boy stereo, even then it depends what file types your playing with what software etc. what speakers/sound system you got bud? you might find a soundcard is a waste of money

I use those, I actually got a couple for various things such as Line-In for the XBox360 and one for Line out into devices such as sterios. At the end of the day, it does exactly the same job, just the connection is layed out slightly different. Its just a piece of metal sperated in different ways.

Tell him he's a nub if he wants one with the outputs when he could buy an adapter for about 3-4 pounds.

Also... if he wants punchy sound... get a Creative X-fi Extreme Music and some adapters.
