Seriously anything, nothing works damnabbit!
Right
so there i was Playing COD4, making an amusing remark on vent about geoff's days back in WWII then whammy, Power to my pc cuts out. Ok ok nevermind i think, just overheated, i'll restart.
Okay, gets upto the windows vista screen then, whammy again power cuts out.
So i leave it an hour, open a window, turn off the heating. My pc is like a block of ice when i get back. Same again 30 seconds then power goes.
After three or four tries it gives up even booting, power comes on, fans whizz, lights erm light and then this time it doesn't even get into the bios but still turns off after 45 seconds.
So i look around the case, everything seems normal, except one of the cpu heatsink screwthings is undone. So i do that up. Turn it on and it stays on, for 30 minutes is the longest i've kept it on. But its still not booting into BIOS!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!! whyyyyyy
I've taken out both RAM, GFX card, SATA & IDE cables, reconnected the power cables to both mobo and gfz card and then put in each one back in, one at a time, but i get no BIOS beeps or any sign of activity other than the fans, lights etc
I've resetted the CMOS, still nothing I dont think its a PSU issue because it will run fine for ages jus without booting
any ideas? im stuck, and bored of my pos old pc

Might be a faulty power cable if it cuts out (like you said every 30 seconds) i had that once on my PS2, and when i took the plug out to look at it, the plastic/rubberery outlayer, has been expossed. I had no idea what's happened, but that's what you get from me. C'mon, people who know how to get things like this sorted, help out Skrunky I'm sorry Skrunk that I can't help, but I haven't even sat my IT GCSE yet Sorry 'bout that matey

Faulty PSU im thinking try another and see if the same problem occurs, it could just be an intermittent fault.
EDIT : Also PSU could have fried something on the board if it no longer boots past the bios?

Yeah thing is though, now i affixed the heatsink correctly it's not cutting out anymore, and back when it did cut out the mobo light stayed on all the time so it was always getting power.
I'm leanin towards whats stealths sayin, i've tried different components in everything so i think it may be a borked mobo component

thats one of the biggest mistake ppl make when upgrading/building pcs, when the cheap psu blows they tend to take things with them.
have you got another psu in your system?

nah
But it hasn't blown, it works perfectly, mobo power light is always on, when it used to cut out it would start straight up again afterwards All components are running, all fans etc its jus not booting

You able to get into the BIOS yet? And before it starts loading windows, press F8 and try some of the option they give you like booting in safe mode.
I've had this issue a couple times and each time its turned out to be an issue with Windows. Usually after I install some drivers...
If your able to get into the BIOS you can probibally sort it straight off. Its probs not detected a hard-drive or any drive for that matter, so its just going with the next option; no boot, reboot. (happened to me a couple times)
Hope that helps.
