Let me see - damaging an otherwise perfectly workable item that I've been using happily for some time, because despite it's immaculate service, I want to have had both the advantage of using said item happily for months, and then returning it under false pretences to have used it for free?

No, I don't think i've done anything quite like that :P

*edit* Oh no, I remember. Bought X-Wing when our computer couldn't run it due to lack of memory (not intentionally :D).... I took it back, but kept the game installed. Needless to say, about 8 months later we increased the memory (back when it cost £30 per MEG!)... and I played the game

So yes, I did something like that  - however, I'm a bit older and have grown somewhat since 1992  If I wasn't allowed to change perceptions or viewpoints as you mature, then I think I'd be forced to think theft was acceptable... as back at 4 years old I honestly didn't know better, as my sister got me to steal sweets for her in the shop
(I got caught, did it once only and busted first attempt... by my mother, who marched me back down there to apologise and pay).

I used to wonder into a shop and work my way through the penny sweets, good times, eventually my mum spotted me and told me about money and all that, sad times :(...

nothing wrong with returning a product that you broke,if they bothered to check it they would have seen it was my fault.

if you payed £420 on a gfx card then broke it 2 days later you wouldnt send it back in hope?

i think you would :pirate:

Don't make my principles waver

Truth is, at that point, perhaps I would try - I would never spend that much on a card, but I think I would crumble into a gibbering heap if I did that... and say it arrived in a smacked up box instead :o However, I think my the idea that it's not intentional, and that i haven't used it for months to my satisfaction before damaging it purposefully for a refund, would make my concious (i can't spell for shit, and the spell checker aint helping lol) rest easier :o

Of course to the company it makes no odds, either way it's out of pocket (although refund = no money, whereas replacement = probs still making a profit out of 2 cards for that price?) - but for some reason, my mind still works a clear distinction

Meh, bugger it :D
