I thought the original one was a cool idea but was missing stuff (plus I don't think you could get it in the uk) With the advent of greater wifi coverage the connectivity aspect shouldn't be a problem, a mixture of free wifi hot spots plus the paid for ones such as the cloud should mean that you should stay connected. Before the cultists of Steve come to knock it down with "my touch/iphone is so much better cos it is" I think this a a different device entirely.... possibly a better one? http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/20 ... eview.htmlthoughts people?

Now that was interesting, I think they missed out a few features which would encourage me buying one.
1) The lack of ability to use a sim for 3G and phone calls. 2) Lack of bluetooth. 3) The lack of ability to use this as a usb or blue tooth modem because of 1 and 2. 4) It's a Sony and hence evil.
I'll stick to my MDA Vario II for now.

That big red button just made me think it'd fly apart if pushed So it's a phone, with an all-in-one type feature set for other things (browser, games, video etc).

its not a phone, never was. its not the point. you want a phone get a phone.
think of it as a media dedicated PDA... without bluetooth.

think of it as a media dedicated PDA... without bluetooth. and without the PDA it's a media player with IM programs and a browser

think of it as a media dedicated PDA... without bluetooth. bit tetchy eh? Meh, I remember folks list as "not being able to live without my mobile phone" as why that's important enough to bother carrying around with you. Fraid I just don't get the lure of this. Email and web browsing? - I would mention video, but I've not seen anyone watching films whilst on the move anyway. These are things so vital that you require yet another hand held device, without the convenience of also being a phone (so you require to carry a phone and this, to do jobs that the phone you probably carry already does?) My first thought was "what of the PSP?" - although obviously it doesn't do games. Mind, can't really remember what else the PSP does do, assuming all the usual stuff (web browsing, email etc). So on the unit itself, looks functional. On the overall idea, personally think it's redundant, but I guess I'm missing something somewhere by which this is really useful

I actually don't want one. I'm in the market for something with WM6 (xperia perhaps?) that does the phone thing and i can do work on it. I looked at the htc tytn II and its like having a small brick in your pocket.
I think this is aimed at those who don't want/need a phone but want to stay connected. Im playing Devils Advocate on this.
Oh and since when are all of Sony evil? The music lot are idiots (but then again they all are) but the film and the playstation and the phone and the consumer electronics bit are good and have nothing to do with each other.

Doesn't the PSP do most of this though? Should really go look myself, but too damned lazy Maybe I will later on As for Sony, not overly fond of them but I don't dislike them either They're a big company and have, obviously, got business orientations towards profits and global dominance. They're expensive - but to counter, their products are, by and large, excellent in quality.
