Third-gen Zune to hit in 2009

I like the look of the 2nd gen Zune. I really like it. If I was going by looks alone it would be M$ over Sony, iriver, creative and Apple any day of the week. A lot of the net are banging on about M$ trying to be hip and cool with their zune trying to mimic the ipod... I don't know who sold their soul but the 2nd gen zune surpasses the aging design cues of the ipod (the touch is a different animal and came out after the 2nd gen zune... hopefully M$ won't be hopping on the touch screen band wagon). The shape, the screen, the buttons, the menu.... its one sexy looking piece of kit.

3rd gen... should be better? I love my toys and so will be looking seriously at this. Is there anyone here who has actually used one of the 2nd gen ones? (I assume you would have to be merkin or possibly north of the border to get one at the mo)

If it came down to looks alone... would you buy one? why wouldn't you get one? why?

Looks good, but functionality ftw.

Personally, I think the creative looks great. Which is why I have one :P

It could be the brand loyalty, or the swayed opinion in me, but I'd still stick with creative.

I've got a Creative Zen Vision: M at the moment.

Pretty happy with it :]

Ya ive got a 1st gen zune, ive had it for ages now and nothings ever gone wrong with it, only thing was the software but now thats sorted im a happy chappy.

Brother has 2nd gen, only thing i noticed about it was its a bit slower than the first gen but i dont know if thats been sorted in any of the firmware upgrades yet.

When this zune breaks ill think about getting the 3rd gen.

Looks pretty cool, I'll get one if my Zen ever decides to die, the amount of times I use it though it will probably last a good 10 years..

Looks quite nice, and I know that if it was a toss up between that and an ipod, it would definately win.
Just couldn't bring myself to buy anything made by apple, all appears to be people trying to make a fashion statement "look at me with my ipod" and I'm the kind of guy that still wears jeans and t-shirt.
So not really in the position to make any statements of fashion......
