So I have this e2200 and surprise surprise, I want it faster.
Any recommended programs or help?

Also what's the best driver, or overlclocker for nvidia cards too?
I used to do Ati but that was a long time a go.

Oh and I'm on vista....I lost my xp cd okay.

oc your gpu with 'rivatuner'.
oc your cpu by upping the fsb in your mobo bios, may need 'slightly' higher voltage, but be careful, little at a time

Ah thanks, I've heard of rivaturner before, excellent. I just need something to monitor my gfx card's temperature, they don't seem to have it in the nvidia control panels anymore.

I think I can do that in the bios but I really wouldn't know what I'm doing, especially with the voltage, I'm not sure what that does...exactly.

Google 'gpuz' for tool which displays gpu speed and temps

The Bios is the only good way to do this however much certain programs claim otherwise.

When you do this use cpuz to keep an eye on the RAM clock You will need to keep this sensible by using a different divider. This divider is a ratio of FSB to RAM clock speed such as 5:4 4:3 1:2 etc the idea is to end up with a RAM Clock your RAM can handle but with a high enough FSB to send your CPU clock to what it can handle. It's a balancing act really.

You can overclock a little without upping the voltage but eventually you will need to. When you do this remember tiny increases are actually really significant and can send temp soaring very suddenly with respect to voltage increases. A good mobo will give you an indication of what is safe based on colour changes of the voltage text but this won't tell you a thing about thermal effects etc.

Relax, read a lot of overclocking guides and take your time, it can be done at the end of the day. Also... Thank god you don't have hypertransport multipliers to worry about.

Just watch the temperatures and obviously put it under some stress!! Prime95 Dual Core edtion is a good method and Intel TAT (Thermal Analysis Tool) will help. SpeedFan is an awesome way to read temperatures, but be sure to compare with other programs to get spot on temperatures then modify the temps in SpeedFan.

If you got 800MHz RAM and the mobo is set to 266MHz FSB... then drop the RAM multiplier to 2x and start the overclock, if the system becomes unreliable up the voltage ONE STAGE! Temps will go nuts if not careful and you'll fry the chip.

The temps you need to look for are 70C... anything over that then you got some problems. IF you got decent cooling you can get a E6400 to 3.2GHz - 400MHz x8 (2.133GHz Stock) with max temps of 55-60C like I have.

Just do some research and be sure to leave motherboard throttling enabled... if the chip goes over 75C then you could be sitting in your own soil.

Lastly... DO THIS THROUGH THE BIOS... :

1. Its far more reliable and accurate...
2. If you cock it up, you can reset the BIOS with the jumper on the mobo, just short the contacts

70c is way to high,for 24/7 use id stay below 60c at least.for temps i use realtemp,its a new program thats more accurate than others.

oc your cpu first and then start to mess with your ram settings once your happy wiht the cpu.

if you want to go higher with your fsb you may need to up your nb volts to.sb should be fine @ default.
