I've noticed that the line-in on my soundcard lowers the volume of the right channel alot compared to the left channel... does anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing hardware but I'm hoping not... :beye:

may sound odd, but what exactly are you pluging in?

does it do the same with anything else you plug into the line in?

Yup. I'm plugging my mixer into it. And the onboard soundcard doesn't have this issue, but the quality isn't as good. Why buy a decent soundcard to use the crappy onboard one?

in the console launcher use the 'audio creation mode'
as this will allow you to manually adjust the the L/R channels independently

has the mixer got any level meters for output?
if not, you could always plug it into a tape / cdr / minidisc deck just to test the output levels
just incase it is the mixer that is at fault

Its nothin to do with my equipment, purely the soundcard. I tested all my equipment in that port and with my other soundcard (the shite onboard one...)

Really wierd symptoms... unless when it was manufactured they put a lower gain or higher resistor on the right channel input..?

I'm thinking the soundcard is purely at fault.. I've adjusted it so that they are level now, but I can't get a higher input than 6dB with my mixer output (it drops the output by 20dB but I've had to drop the left channel by 10dB to match the right channel and you can't increase the dB on one channel.)

The reason this is quite an issue for me is basically because I do live streams every now and then to friends and things. I could do mono but that sounds pretty crap if ya ask me...

in settings, you have got it on 'line in' instead of digital I/O?

would be grateful if could screenshot your console settings

is the onboard sound disabled in the bios?
is the xfi set to be the default device in the control panel?

just checking before writing the card off
