What monitor will you be using? that spec is a bit below mine and i can max out my 1920x1200 on pretty much anything

I'd ask what you're wanting to use it for. You can buy top of the range everything, spend a fortune, and it'll be 2 years before you really need* the power - by which time everything you paid for will be 1/3rd the price. Course, if you've got the money for it all and want to get a great rig, then enjoy it  * depends entirely upon what you'll use it for

The new Intel Nehalem Microarchitecture comes out next month, wait, the entire Core 2 duo series is expecting a big drop in prices, ready for the new 'Core i7'  . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_3If I were in your position, I'd wait until beginning of next year and get i7, you'll need a motherboard which isn't out yet, and also DDR3 RAM , it'll be a beast. no point waiting if your gonna build a gaming rig,you wont see any performance in game if you get the new cpu's. if it were me id build a pc with a 4870x2,q6600,2 gig ballistix and a decent mobo/psu
