I want something to record my webcam with that isn't limited to lolMovieMaker's 640x480.
Any suggestions?

tbh anything more pro than movie maker would be a waste
as the weakest link is your webcam (not unless it records in 1280*720)
see if there is an option to change the bitrate, before rendering, i think this is the part where it
tells you about internet speeds (6Mb line for example as this is the same as bitrate)
increase this (if you can) and your footage will look a lot sharper at the resolution you are using
having not messed with movie maker for quite some time, im a little rusty with its interface
but the above rings true with any/most media editing suites

hmm, i just did a test vid with movie maker and the highest export setting is 2.1Mb (a bitrate of 2100) which aint bad really for the resolution you record at
what do you use for recording?
and what format does it use?

I have a webcam that supports 1280x720. I think its higher actually. But I want it for HQ vids on Youtube to be honest. Also movie maker is absolute SHITE for getting the timing correct between a recording and video. I know you can record audio with it, but I don't like too.  _________________

 1280*720 you say  if its an option, always record @ 30fps and save as an uncompressed avi........... alwaysthats probably the best advice i can give lets see what you do
