I used to but found vista 64 way too slow and the video drivers sucked, so now use windows 7 64 and its so much better.

COMPLETLY typed that in wrong, I meant XP 32 and Windows 7 or any other configuration.

Thinking of dual booting my current XP and putting Windows 7 on another Partition.

Won't be a problem at all  If you have vm hardware support on your CPU you can download and run the XP virtual machine within 7...

running vista 32 and 7 64bit, get a few crashes, but only when I'm loading games, so I've got a feeling it's my current drivers (too lazy to try some others) or its something to do with SLI.
Apart from that I'm mucho impressed!

You can get the windows 7 iso both 32 and 64 bit easily enough if you google it. microsoft stopped hosting it but other sites still have it including torrent sites as its a legal download. just make sure you get the RC version which is the latest.
I recommend 64bit.
you will need a cd key which you can get from microsoft here.

hxxxp://www.microsoft.com/windows/windo ... nload.aspx

The RC version is valid till june 2010

just got me hands on the RTM 64bit, will install later on, hopefully it's as simply as upgrading my 7100 build, but I doubt it.

Doesn't upgrade from XP - clean install required.

A colleague upgraded Vista home premium to 7 Ultimate, taking 3 hours :stumble:

Clean install might be a better solution then. Just backup everything you need to and reinstall.

I changed from Windows XP x86 to Windows 7 x86 and I must say it is a very nice OS. I tried Vista before but that was just a major pain in the arse. Did try W7 x64 but had some weird problems when I wrote files to my Samba share on my Linux server. W7 crashed straight away or rather froze. Only thing I could do was restart. So after trying a reinstall of W7 x64 and having the same thing I went for x86 edition. I won't miss the 800 MB of my 4 GB memory I reckon ;)

I especially like the new and improved taskbar/systray in W7.
