pc wont boot into vista or windows 7 (reformatted as 7 was doing it now vista is) come up with boot sector error.
now my pc wont even boot the vista cd, it get to the grew loading bit and does that, that just pauses on a black screenafter the green bar keeps going across.
before my pc did this i started experiencing my pc slowing down and occasionally freezing up every 10-20 seconds for minutes on a time. But other times it would boot and load fine.#
but now i cant boot and cant seem to find a way to reformat and put a different os. Any suggestions? Maybe Hard disk has died/failed?

ok i have tried a genuine xp disk, genuine vista disk and a windows 7 rc build disk and in BOTH my dvd drives i get a message on boot saying
"disk read error - Press ctrl-alt-del to restart"

may years ago i had a problem simular .... anyways i think i was caused by the constant rebooting . long shot but check the time and date in your bios ... make sure the jumper hasnt come off the hard drive check all connections .. attch a new harddrive if its ata
give me your addy and i send you a drive just to see if it works ... its only 4 gig so its only for test

i will also send you a bootable disk ... its called hirens ,.... it has many many aps on it that will check your drive /

sorted  sorry if i came across as rash lol. I swapped my hard disk out to find the sata connection on the drive had snapped off, the little gold bits u plug the cable into, so simply poped another hd in and away again now. thanks though guys and thanks for the offers Lemon _________________

so go on...how did the sata snap off...was it when you throweded it out the window?
throwdeded....to throwed in a temper.

I wish I could say I snapped it bu I have no idea lol. It's been fine for months haven't opened case all cables very tidy and neatly go behind board so can't get caught on anything hmmmmmm least it was fixed easily just a new hard disk Whig my dad had lying around  and a new cable out my mobo box _________________
