 Post subject: dvd decoder for laptop

went to play a dvd and this message came up :
Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.
any links to where i can download a free one (windows xp)
must of been when i reinstalled a while back,first time i have gone to play a dvd

or just install klite standard codec pack, includes media player classic and all the codecs you may need to play anything

there is another codec called, "ffdshow" which I think you pick up from www.sourceforge.net or tapping it into google

tbh ffd show isnt a codec it just manages them as windows is so stupid it will use the first thing it can to render - even if its the wrong thing :thumbl:
