If you are a student, the "ultimate steal" deal from Microsoft includes Windows 7 Professional for £69, as well as the ol Office Ultimate 2007 for £38 (maybe wait for Office 2010 though?).

Just got asked on the phone "is this the only computer this software is installed on" I said yes and they read me the code to activate. A bit long winded but completely satisfactory result. I did the same with my laptop going from 32bit to 64bit using the same code.

This compliments 7 quite well, http://rocketdock.com/ it can get in the way of windows when you maximise them though.
