Are there any out there? Something that you type in the cost per kw/h, wattage of your PC and it shows how much its costing based on the time its on?

unless you can monitor your power consumption in real time, it won't be accurate. maybe if you calculate the average consumption based on the general amount of time your pc is idle and under load...
besides that, i couldn't find any application that calculates the cost based on the actual time the pc is on.

you would probably be better off using an actual hardware monitor between your wall socket and the psu. :thumbl:
such as these

Alot of energy companies are offering free energy consumption monitors, these should tell
you how much you are using & the cost. Obviously you would have to subtract the
cost/usage of all the other house hold product that you have on at the time of monitoring.

Wasn't worried to much about the accuracy, just a rough idea, there's absolutly nothing out there, app wise, that I can see. Anyone good with VB? All you'd need is the calculation on a timer event I would have thought.

Yeah was in my local Maplin when I saw them, half price one looks good though, might pop in my local shop tommorow.

Watts x hours per day x days per week x 52 / 1000 = kWh per year x £0.00kWh = Cost per year

aye, the app would be fairly simple, creating a file when it first starts and editing it right before you shut down the pc. or if you can't catch that event, either do it manually or edit the file every few minutes so the timer will only be off by a small bit at most.

then calculate the average daily time the pc was on since the date the file was first created. making sure you don't forget about the days the pc wasn't turned on.

the longer the app would run, the more accurate the results would be.
if you want, i could make something like that for you in adobe air. :)

although i must say, the hardware one will always be better :thumbr:
