ok, soo as most of you probably already know, dont have my own internet connection at the moment, soo im leeching off a neighbours unsecured wifi.
the problem being, my pc isnt wifi capable, soo having to use the laptop which is all fine, but its a pretty shit laptop that can only handle worms and maybe css. ive tried bridging the connection to my pc several times with no success, keep getting told theres an ip conflict, soo how the hell do i make the pc get its own ip? is my laptop supposed to do that or the router the laptop is connected to?
Laptop is running WinXP 32bit, connected to the wifi PC is running Win7 32bit, connected to the laptop via ethernet.
ive made sure the NICs are running in compatibility mode and all that shit.

casp, i honestly dont have £8.99 to spare right now and should have my own internet in the next week or soo anyway.
cow, cheers but when i try to enable ICS it just sais "An error occurred when enabling internet connection sharing.
internet connection sharing cannot be enabled. A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing."

What I'd do is let the ip of the wireless card grab its network ip via DHCP from the wireless network. Set the IP address of the wired card to the same settings plus one and then set the IP address of the Win 7 Box the same but plus one again eg 192.168.0.10 for the wireless, 192.168.0.11 for the Laptop network card and 192.168.0.12 for the Win 7 box. Then see if you can bridge the connection.
Do you need a crossover cable for the network as well?

your bridging the 2 same broadcast domains - cant do it - one need to be a totally seprate domain - set your internal to 10.1.2.etc and it will work

ok, soo having a new problem here, the wifi adapter isn't functioning properly. plug it into the pc, apparently the drivers are all fine, but ive reinstalled a couple times anyway. it connects to the network, gets an IP and subnet, but no gateway or DNS. if i plug it into the laptop, its set to use a specific ip, subnet, gateway and DNS and connects no problem. but if i use the details from the laptop on the pc, it doesnt work, tried changing the last digit of the ip around, but still wont work. DHCP shows as No? just comes up saying unidentified network, no internet access, sometimes no network access.. ive tried rebooting the router a couple times, no help there. cant figure out why it works with the laptop but not the pc any ideas?
